We are looking for a Release Manager to work with scrum teams within business segment portfolios that will be responsible for scheduling, planning, and controlling the software delivery process. The objective is to facilitate the process required to move software releases into production while coordinating with different teams to ensure the smooth delivery of software releases efficiently with little disruption. In addition, the Release Manger will work the scrum teams to ensure team members time is allocated in Service Now to the appropriate value stream and scrum team for time tracking and cost allocation.
Detailed Description:
Plan Releases
- Work with Experience Owners (aka Product Managers), Execution Managers (aka Product Owners), Scrum Masters to slot Features/MVPs into a release
- Identify cross impacted team dependencies and communicate scope to cross impacted teams
- Create release plan and communicate to stakeholders
Schedule Releases
- Create a monthly release plan for monthly releases outside of the quarterly Enterprise releases
- Coordinate release plans (implementation/validation) and activities with business segment scrum teams, cross impacted teams, and Enterprise Release Team (for quarterly releases),
- Ensure impact on IT controls are identified and addressed
- Obtain release exceptions, if necessary
Support Delivery Teams
- Coordinate ongoing dependent work between cross impacted teams and business segment scrum teams has been completed prior to a release
- Manage the allocation of scrum teams members time within the Service Now to enable time tracking and appropriate cost allocation
- Resolve issues and mitigate risks… escalate as necessary
- Track changes and communicate impacts to all teams
- Coordinate environment availability needed for all teams for development & test
- Support continuous improvement
- Support implementation of a DevOps practices and tools (e.g. CI/CD pipelines) to enable more automation in the release process
Determine Production Readiness
- Track progress of all teams towards completion of planned scope… escalate issues
- Obtain release exceptions, if necessary
- Prepare for the release Go / No Go meeting and verify release readiness:
- Ensure development teams have completed an implementation plan and change tasks in Service Now
- Verify test results and update test results in Service Now for the Go / No Go meeting
- Verify stakeholder readiness
- Ensure all audit & compliance requirements are met
- Obtain approval & sign-off’s from stakeholders
- Conduct Go / No Go meeting
Manage Releases
- Set up the release bridge call and chat channels
- Manage & coordinate the execution of the Implementation/Validation Plan
- Coordinate release status with affected business teams on release night
- Monitor MS Team chats on release night for each team deploying code to obtain status and provide support as needed (ex. Incident issue triage)
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Min 5 years of experience working in a portfolio/program/release management capacity (business or technical)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of the application development lifecycle
- Agile mindset
- ITIL Foundation certification
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g. CI/CD pipelines) and automation of the release process
- Strong communication skills… ability to negotiate solutions with stakeholders
- Strong problem solving skills
- Work independently and with minimal supervision
- Possess excellent analytical skill
- Tools: ADO (AzureDevOps) and ServiceNow
