NAFI Rhode Island is currently seeking dynamic and energetic Awake Overnight Youth Counselors for our adolescent group home located in Pawtucket RI. Youth Counselors provide direct oversight and supervision of residents in the milieu; ideal candidates are eager to engage and interact with the teens in the program; and act as a role model and caring adult to residents.
Job Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:
- Deliver supportive supervision to residents during Awake Overnight Hours
- Aid residents in resolving issues and fostering positive peer relationships
- Maintain effective communication with on-call administrators as necessary
- Engage teens in pro-social and beneficial activities when appropriate
- Thoroughly observe and meticulously document youth activity
- Execute the daily schedule including school, appointments, transportation, etc.
- Offer adept de-escalation and crisis intervention support as required
- Actively engage in scheduled staff meetings, supervision sessions, and training opportunities
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and verbal/written communication skills
- Experience and knowledge of the served population
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance
- Successful completion of background checks and clearances
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred
- Residential experience considered a plus
