Job Title: Nanosensor Engineer
FLSA Status: Exempt Full Time
POSITION SUMMARY:
NanoAffix Science LLC is currently seeking a Nanosensor Engineer with expertise in nanosensor development and characterization. The engineer will work closely with our R&D team to accelerate the commercialization of novel sensors for heavy metal and PFAS detection in drinking water and other sensor products of the company. The position is a full-time regular position requiring a Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field. The candidate must be comfortable with working in a small but dynamic cross-functional team and have excellent interpersonal communication skills. The candidate is expected to be self-motivated, to work independently, and to actively participate in a collaborative team effort. The candidate also is expected to function well in a fast-paced research environment, multi-task, and adapt to changing needs. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Perform ALD, sputtering, and surface modification for sensors.
· Perform water sample analysis using ICP-MS.
· Carry out sensor testing (e.g., conductance, capacitance, and impedance measurements).
· Statistical analysis of experimental data.
· Develop models to correlate sensing results with analyte contents.
· Characterize nanomaterials using SEM, TEM, AFM, XRD, XPS, etc.
· Document experimental data and lab protocols and report results.
· Develop protocols for quality control during sensor fabrication.
· Collaborate with team members to meet project milestones and timeline.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
· Demonstrated ability to develop chemical sensors based on nanomaterials (e.g., carbon nanotubes, graphene, etc.), such as electrochemical sensors and field-effect transistor (FET) sensors.
· Knowledge of nanomaterials (particularly 2D nanomaterials, e.g., graphene).
· Skills to operate materials characterization equipment (SEM, TEM, AFM, XPS, XRD, etc.).
· Knowledge of materials, electrochemistry, semiconductor devices.
· Effective oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to work well in a fast-paced team to achieve goals within defined time frames.
· Ability to recognize and handle confidential information appropriately.
· Authorized to work in the U.S.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Nanofabrication experience
· Experience with manufacturing quality control
· Programming skills in MATLAB, C, C++, Python, etc.
· Knowledge of Arduino
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Has or is in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
· At least 3 years of experience in sensor design and characterization.
SALARY:
· Salary compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
