Schedule: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Role will also include occasional evenings or weekend activities.
Metro connects people, places, and opportunities through quality transit services. Metro is looking to employ an HR Generalist with outstanding attention to detail, and critical thinking skills. The HR Generalist should be personable and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Top candidates will display a solid understanding of labor law, compliance, recruiting processes, and have superb organizational skills.
HR Generalist Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a dedicated HR role.
- Associates degree or higher in a Human Resources or related.
- Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills.

- Exposure to labor law and employment regulations including, EEO, FLSA, FLMA & ADA.
- Effective HR administration skills and full understanding of W-4 & I-9 best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office, and related business and communication tools.
- Fantastic organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to cooperate and develop good working relationships with others.
- Ability to complete a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check satisfactorily.
- Positive attitude and demonstrated excellence in customer service.
HR Generalist Essential Duties:
General Duties:
- Works closely with assigned departments to support HR activities.
- Assists with the development and implementation of procedures and practices.
- Keeps abreast of agency-wide policies and procedures and communicates such to employees.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Delivers regular and predictable attendance and performance of essential job duties.
- Supports and promotes the mission, initiatives, and values of Metro.
- Other related duties and special projects as assigned.
HR Document Management
- Oversees and maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Coordinates all pre-employment screens and background checks.
- Participate in new hire orientation. Prepare, administer, and enter all new hire paperwork and information into HRIS system.
- Assist with the administration of compliance related programs and procedures including EEO, FLSA, Drug & Alcohol, and Public Employee “Due Process” rights.
- Proactively audit processes, procedures, and documents to ensure they are compliant with all relevant regulations.
- Develop process improvement plans and implement them.
- Research and monitor applicable legislative and policy changes.
Recruitment and Hiring:
- Conduct intake meetings with hiring managers
- Screen and review job applications
- Schedule, host, and conduct interviews and hiring events.
- Help coordinate and administer the orientation of new employees.
- Produce and send reports on recruitment activity.
