The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Nursing Specialist position. This position is based out of the Corrections Central Office in Madison, WI .

Position Summary
This position provides subject matter expertise in the development and maintenance of all clinical policies and procedures within the Bureau of Health Services (BHS). This position supports the full scope of departments within BHS, including nursing, medical, dental, psychology and psychiatry. This position will ensure policies and procedures meet the National Commission on Correctional Health Care standards and guidelines, including timelines for review. This position will work with many different levels of leadership and stake holders to define best practices and drive consistency and standardization of clinical policies and procedures throughout the Bureau.
Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule and range 11-02 with pay starting from $70,844 to $101,171 .
Pay rates on appointment for current or former state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code.
A twelve-month probationary period is required.
Remote work is available for up to 3 days per week.
Job Details
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have experience: Developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical policies and procedures using current evidence-based research and literature. Providing direct, clinical patient care.
Analyzing clinical information/data to identify areas of improvement and provide recommendations for practice change
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must posses and maintain an active unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin or another state participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact.
Must maintain certification in CPR by the American Heart Association and training in the use of the AED and have the ability to perform CPR and/or first aid to prevent loss of life and relieve suffering until appropriate care arrives.
