As the Senior Accountant, you will be asked to perform advanced-level accounting duties and tasks. Responsibility for the month-end closing process for Lawrence General Hospital and any assigned affiliated entities of the Hospital including general ledger journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation of any supporting schedules. Review of accounting transactions for appropriate accounting treatment according to US GAAP. Full responsibility for analyzing financial statements monthly and reporting on budget variances, reconciling intercompany balances and transactions, meeting monthly financial statement closing deadlines, performing grant accounting and related reporting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support and maintain department goals and objectives.
- Adhere to and promote a strong internal control environment.
- Meet deadlines, including tight monthly financial statements, close deadlines, and audit deadlines.
- Collaborate with co-workers, other departments of the Hospital, and vendors to further the hospital’s mission.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations and/or supporting schedules for general ledger accounts.
- Ownership of designated G/L accounts
- Provide financial analysis and models for management, including, but not limited to, variance reporting of the annual operating budget.
- Federal, State, and private grant accounting and management
- Assist in the review of the general ledger month-end close and presentation of the balance sheet and income statement results.
- Assist in the accounting and financial reporting of the Hospitals’ affiliated entities.
- Assist in the preparation or review of various quarterly and annual tax returns.
- Provide documentation to management and/or auditors to support transactions.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or related field with 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience with good knowledge of US GAAP is required.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong Microsoft Word skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
- Healthcare industry accounting experience
- Grant accounting experience
