Davidson is actively seeking a Deputy Program Manager with a robust Systems Engineering background in Huntsville, AL.
This pivotal role contributes to a dynamic, forward-thinking research and development (R&D) initiative for the United States Air Force’s (USAF) Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS). The program is dedicated to pioneering advanced software capabilities for both wired and wireless communications spanning all five warfare domains: land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace. Collaborating closely with a diverse array of experts specializing in Software Engineering, Networking, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, and Modeling & Simulations (M&S), this position drives innovation and excellence in the field.
The ideal candidate will possess the following capabilities:
- Engage in robust discussions on pioneering systems engineering theories, concepts, and ideas, contributing to the development of cutting-edge solutions
- Champion an agile development lifecycle rooted in systems engineering principles, fostering adaptability and innovation while ensuring robustness and reliability
- Collaborate seamlessly within a diverse Integrated Product Team (IPT), leveraging systems engineering methodologies to optimize collaboration and efficiency
- Offer valuable design inputs grounded in systems engineering principles and support in decomposing system requirements to ensure alignment with overall program objectives
- Spearhead the development and implementation of system enhancements, utilizing a systems engineering approach to ensure holistic integration and functionality
- Prepare comprehensive diagrams and deliver persuasive presentations, effectively communicating complex systems engineering concepts and solutions to stakeholders

High Level Role and Responsibilities:
The Deputy Program Manager is a seasoned leader with a talent for effective communication across all organizational tiers. Key responsibilities include providing vital support to the Program Manager in orchestrating oversight, coordination, and facilitation of program deliverables. This entails operating strategically and operationally within a cross-functional team to manage schedule, budget, scope, risk, contract compliance, communications, and personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering with a minimum of 6 years of experience in government contracting-related roles
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing technical teams
- Proficiency in communication and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
- Agility in adapting to shifts in priorities, schedules, and budget to ensure program success
- Strong sense of urgency and adeptness in managing deadlines, applying systems engineering principles to prioritize tasks and resources effectively
- Ability to craft compelling presentations and reports as necessary
Desired Competencies/Experience/Certifications:
- Master’s Degree in a business-related degree or Systems Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of experience in government contracting-related roles
- Experience working with the USAF ABMS program
- Background in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
Clearance Requirements:
Currently holds or able to obtain a Top Secret/SCI Clearance
