Title: PRN Inpatient Unit Charge Nurse, Afterhours
Location: Longmont United Hospital, 4th floor
Schedule: Various night shifts. PRN minimum requirement of 2 shifts per month.
Pay: $40 to $48 per hour
JOB SUMMARY
The Charge Nurse functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team in our Hospice Inpatient Unit, located on the 4th floor of Longmont United Hospital. The Charge RN addresses physical, psychosocial, and spiritual aspects of care and ensures patient needs are quickly met in holistic, un-fragmented care in collaboration with Social Workers, Chaplains, Volunteers, and Physicians. The Charge RN performs frequent and accurate assessments, interprets and correlates finding, establishes plan of care, and implements short term goals. The Charge RN observes patient progress, records observations, implements physician and nursing treatment plans, and evaluates outcomes. The Charge RN recognizes the legal responsibilities as specified by law and adheres to those responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides nursing care to meet the patient’s needs in accordance with the patient’s hospice plan of care.
- Correctly identifies, communicates, and collaborates on patient problems/priorities/issues based upon assessment data
- Establishes measurable patient goals and communicates an on-going plan of care appropriately to the interdisciplinary team (IDT)
- Recognizes changes in the clinical status of the patient and reports findings to the appropriate team member.
- Collaborates with patient/family when developing the plan of care, adjusting communication style as necessary.
- Creates a supportive environment that respects each patient’s dignity, privacy, and cultural preferences.
- Provides medication management per protocol. Recognizes and reports adverse drug reactions and medication variances per policy and procedure.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Must possess a current RN license in the state of Colorado.
- Prior experience working in hospice, highly preferred
- 2+ years as an RN, highly preferred
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, provide proof of insurance indicating you have $100k/$300k Bodily Injury/$100K Property Damage coverage and have reliable transportation.
- Must comply with agency health screening and immunization requirements.
- Must possess CPR certification or be able to obtain within 60 days of hire.
Pay: $40.00 - $48.00 per hour
