The Washington Times is seeking an experienced Video Editor to create exceptional digital news content for our website, social media platforms, TV broadcasts and other endeavors. We are looking for ways to increase and expand reader engagement through creative and compelling videos on our channels.
The video editor will be responsible for several aspects of video post-production from editing interview segments, short videos, and social clips, to animating GFX, and assisting with post-production management. The successful candidate will have significant experience with Adobe Suite, knowing the ins and outs of Premiere, and expertly navigating through After Effects. A keen sense for storytelling, an affinity for music, and experience pacing different types of videos. In addition to strong technical abilities in the edit, the ideal candidate has sharp communication skills, is highly organized (file and project management), is open to feedback/improvement, and is dedicated to finding creative solutions. Sharp news judgment is a must.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in video production, film, broadcasting or a related field and a minimum of five years working in news broadcast post-production or a post-production house. We will consider candidates who do not necessarily have all these qualifications but have sufficient experience, talent, a readiness to learn, and a passion for precise visual storytelling. Experience in a newsroom environment is preferred. Strong and transparent communication is a must.
