The team is led by Athletic Trainers that are dedicated to providing a positive environment with balance and positivity by addressing roadblocks that have been facing secondary school athletic trainers with transparency and dedication to the athletic training profession as a whole.
We work to have our athletic trainers feel valued, supported, balanced with their schedules and home life, and feel they have the opportunity to grow as a clinician and person. We have changed our model to fit current times of athletic training and built relationships with area physicians, professional organizations, community organizations, universities, and more to add to your experience as an athletic trainer if and when it makes sense for you!
We have 10 month positions based at our schools with no clinic or other responsibilities, 12 month optional positions, Add-on program development options for areas of passion, and our new residency program with a transition to practice and operating room model with Connecticut Orthopedics.
10 month positions start at $58,000
Expectations:
- Provide comprehensive sports medicine programming to area secondary schools with support
- Be a positive team member to fellow athletic trainers and supporting physical therapy clinics
- Communicate effectively and professionally to student-athletes, parents, coaches, administrators, community members, and co-workers
- Uphold best practices according to NATA, BOC, and scope of practice standards
- Build positive relationships with supporting team physicians and communicate regularly
- Be a community presence as a healthcare professional - providing education at parent and coaching meetings
- Uphold Emergency Action Planning education and scenarios for coaches
Life of an APT AT
- Heading into school to check in and catch up with the school Nurse, athletic director, and follow up on any documentation, coach conversations - taking an opportunity to be a community presence - some days early to allow time (12pm) - all depending on your schedule and workload.
- Provide care to student-athletes.
- Communicate any injuries as appropriate
- Communicate with team physician as appropriate
- Check in with APT athletic training team for any support needed and communicate any challenges
- Attend athletic training team meetings - bi-weekly/monthly, dependant on team schedules
- Attend monthly all clinician (PTs and ATs) Advanced Physical Therapy Continuing education when available (not mandatory)
- Connect with your support staff in Advanced Physical Therapy clinics through clinical conversations to enhance student-athlete care, support your goals and needs, as well as your school community needs, and promote positive clinician relationships across the company.
- Keep up on EMR documentation and school needed documentation
