Job Title: Senior Accountant
Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and ensuring the accuracy of financial records. They play a key role in financial reporting, analysis, and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
o Prepare and post journal entries including:
§ Deferred Revenue
§ Fixed fee revenue calculations
§ Revenue and cost accruals
§ Bi-weekly payroll entry
o Reconcile and support balance sheet accounts
o Purchase order review
o Assist in coordination of timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes
o P&L and Balance Sheet quarterly variance analysis
o Top client by revenue and margin reporting
- Assist with special projects as they arise:
o Ad hoc management requests (by line of business, by customer, etc.)
o Business registrations
o Clean up of registrations/filings from prior acquisitions
o Potential new acquisitions
- Monitor sales tax compliance:
o Monitor Avalara
o Register states with Nexus and manage sales tax returns via Avalara software
o Quarterly review of AvaTax codes
- Internal Controls and Audit:
o Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support external auditors during annual audits
o Maintain documentation of accounting policies and procedures
o Maintain internal controls and establish new ones as needed
- Team Leadership and Collaboration:
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as finance, operations, sales, etc.
o Cross-train job functions for backup support of accounting staff
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3-4 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting procedures.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) with strong working knowledge of Excel
- Dependable and detail oriented
- Strong understanding of general ledger functions, month-end close functions and account reconciliations
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage and prioritize multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Strong work ethic and sense of personal responsibility for work outcomes
