What you will be doing:
The Grant Writer works closely with the Executive Director to lead our efforts in securing funding to help our organization operate throughout the year. The Grant Writer’s responsibilities include researching grant opportunities, writing compelling grant proposals to acquire funding, and working with our leadership team to ensure we have enough capital each year. Ultimately, they will work with our leadership team to understand our financial needs and ensure we attain funding.
Essential Functions Statement(s)
· Assist with the execution of the development department’s fund raising strategy
· Identify grant funding opportunities from, all government municipalities, corporations, institutions and philanthropists.
· Write, submit and manage grant proposals
· Furnish prospective funders with supporting documents
· Collaborate with Executive Director and Director of Development to send benefactors newsletters and to promote on-site tours
· Collaborate with Director of Development to compile an annual report
· Provides periodic and ad hoc reports to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors (BoD) on community-focused program/service impact.
· Completes additional responsibilities as needed.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
· Proven work experience as a Grant Writer or similar role
· Proficient with measuring and reaching income goals
· Great with MS Office Word and Excel
· Excellent knowledge of fundraising information sources
· Exceptional organizational skills
Education: Master’s degree in psychology, social work, sociology, child development or related field form an accredited institution.
Experience: Five years of experience in the non-profit human services field. Five years of experience writing grants and successfully obtaining grants.
Preferred: Three years of experience in the direct supervision of staff and the design, implementation and evaluation of social services programs.
Other Requirements: Knowledge of issues and challenges faced by low-income individuals and families of NYC.
