EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN - INDUSTRIAL WATER TREATMENT - CENTRAL INDIANA

JOB SUMMARY:
The primary function of the Equipment Technician is to provide chemical and equipment support for our Field Team in various ways, including writing equipment and chemical quotes for customers, equipment commissioning, calibration, validation, programming control equipment, priming chemical pumps, dealing with remote communications, and troubleshooting. The individual in this position will also be responsible for documenting service and commissioning visits in our data management system and submitting them to customers and coworkers via email.
JOB DUTIES:
- Apply pertinent chemical dosing, usage, and testing for the commissioning and troubleshooting of water treatment equipment
- Effectively start up, troubleshoot, and run equipment for customers and their personnel, teaching and training plant personnel on the operation of equipment as needed
- Utilize knowledge of industrial electrical wiring to operate equipment and diagnose issues
- Assist regional service teams with knowledge, training and guidance on equipment change outs, chemical feeds, and system operations
- Travel to client sites to provide hands-on assistance, installation, commissioning, and training on our custom equipment and ensure optimal performance and operational efficiency
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for enhancements in equipment design, functionality, and performance based on real-world insights gathered during field service visits
- Maintain accurate records of service activities, including detailed reports on troubleshooting procedures, solutions implemented, and recommendations for future improvements, and submit these to management as needed
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate’s degree in electrical, plumbing, automation, engineering, or related field or 2 years of relevant work experience
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft products
- Possession of a current, valid driver’s license
- Willingness to learn and follow Company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Ability and willingness to follow Company and customer requirements for security, safety, vaccination and PPE
- Ability to perform work while mobile in the field; extended hours and flexible work schedules are dependent on project and customer requirements
- Ability to lift containers weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to pass a respirator fit test and wear a half or full-face respirator
- Ability to work in environments that are loud and non-airconditioned
- Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended time periods
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Midwest to fulfill job duties (overnight travel may be required at times)
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Certified water operator certification
- Ability to type 30+ words per minute
- Experience with water softeners, reverse osmosis systems, deionization, plant operations, lab environment, etc.
- Experience with chemical handling (i.e. transfer or blending of chemicals)
- Experience with quality control testing
- Familiarity within the microbiology realm (i.e. food safety, Legionella, mycobacterium, dipslides, etc.)
- Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDSs)
- Familiarity with any of the following types of equipment: Advantage Controls, Prominent, Iwaki Walchem, Lakewood, LMI, Pulsafeeder, Stenner, Seametrics, Fleck, Clack, Marlo, Shelco, Turner Designs, Worcester, Belimo, copper silver ionization, ultraviolet (UV) lights
