Summary/Objective
The Prevention Educator will support efforts to engage and mobilize the community to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as build safe healthy communities. The Prevention Educator implements a violence prevention curriculum with youth and adult influencers. This position advocates and educates to increase community awareness and response to teen dating violence and sexual violence, access to services, and prevention strategies. This position involves both on-call and in office responsibilities and requires extensive travel throughout the four county HLFCC service area.

- Develops and implements primary prevention strategies and activities consistent with current guidance from Centers for Disease Control, Texas Council on Family Violence, and Texas Association Against Sexual Assault.
- Coordinate and implement Teen Dating Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention programming for youth and adult influencers.
- Provides crisis intervention for youth who have made outcries as victims of bullying, sexual and/or dating violence and refer to the appropriate services.
- Work as a community liaison to identify, develop, and sustain relationships with area organizations and service providers for education programming
- Facilitate educational seminars and professional development training, as appropriate, for participants in prevention programming.
- Coordinate and offer community education and professional training programs related to domestic violence and sexual assault issues.
- Supports the program's social media activities by regularly posting on sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and monitors activities.
- Participates in local efforts to improve the community’s response to domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Respond to crisis calls during scheduled shift and participate in 24 hour on-call rotation.
- Conduct community outreach and education about Teen Dating Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention and dynamics.
- Collaborate effectively with other HLFCC programs and outside agencies to ensure quality survivor-centered service delivery.
Required Education, Experience and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferably majoring in one of the behavioral sciences, OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to function as a part of a team and work in collaboration with outside agencies.
- Ability to provide culturally competent services and work with diverse staff and clientele in an empathetic and non-judgmental manner.
- Strong organizational and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with community-based services in Burnet, Blanco, Llano and Lampasas counties.

- Valid Texas driver’s license access to reliable transportation.
