I. Job Summary: The position involves operating a heavy-duty truck for waste management assigned tasks on transfer routes.
II. Key Responsibilities: To perform the job satisfactorily, the candidate must be capable of executing each critical duty successfully, and additional minor duties may also be assigned.
- Ensure cleanliness and security of the vehicle.
- Conduct pre-and post-trip inspections using the DVIR form, reporting any issues for review and repair.
- Attend scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as the Route Manager requires.
- Collaborate with Route Managers to improve route efficiency and identify problematic or hazardous accounts.
- Fulfill assigned duties according to the Route Manager or Dispatch's schedule, offering assistance to other drivers as needed.
- Follow Service Machine protocol to report issues such as blocked containers, potential missed pick-ups, or problems along the route to Dispatch or the Route Manager.
- Empty all containers completely and leave the customer's location clean and debris-free.
- Submit customer tickets for the removal of excess yardage.
- Properly position containers on the customer's premises, ensuring lids are correctly replaced, containers are upright, and entrances or traffic are unobstructed.
- Adhere to assigned routes throughout the day and complete all necessary documentation when checking in at the end of the route.
IV. Qualifications The qualifications listed below represent the requirements necessary to perform the job.
The applicant must possess a Commercial Driver's License B (CDL) with Air Brake Endorsement and at least 2 years of experience with Waste Collection Trucks (Side Loaders).
Satisfactorily pass pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, including previous employment and motor vehicle record reviews. Acceptable driving record required.
