Community Action seeks a Communications & Development Coordinator to join our Communications & Development team. This individual will implement Community Action’s communications, community engagement, and fund development strategy, including efforts to raise required local match funds for programs such as Head Start. In addition to executing current strategies, this position will develop new creative strategies for raising such needed funds. Primary duties include executing annual communications and development strategies such as drafting targeted print and digital communications; identifying giving prospects and soliciting funds, including via grant writing; and various content creation duties.
Starting Pay:_ $23.18 /hour_ with $1000 Training Incentive
The Role:
- Lead a variety of fundraising strategies to achieve various agency goals. Develop and pursue new avenues for achieving these goals.
- Draft print and digital communications to implement annual fundraising campaigns/goals (including planned and monthly giving communications) and maintain positive relationships with donors and the community to support Community Action’s mission.
- Connect community members to meaningful engagement opportunities with Community Action, such as volunteerism, donation drives, and more.
- Coordinate agency social media strategy, serve as a positive agency spokesperson, draft press releases, media alerts, and other agency news/announcements as assigned.
- Design print and digital materials to support agency programs’ needs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing/advertising, business, human services, or a related field (or related experience) preferred.
- Strong technical English communication skills (written, oral, visual) required.
- Experience in fund development required.
- Valid Nebraska Driver’s License and good driving record required.
- Must support and demonstrate commitment to agency mission, vision, and values, including valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- Must be sensitive to the experiences, needs, and strengths of low-income and diverse populations, and individuals with disabilities.
- Must be a professional representative and advocate of our agency, staff, and program participants.
- Must enter position at intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and understanding of basic financial statements.
- Must be able to work with clients, partners, and donors of diverse backgrounds individually and in groups.
- Must attend Results Oriented Management & Accountability (ROMA) training within one year of start date.
