Position Description:
It is the responsibility of the System Admin/Dev Ops to support and maintain the company’s infrastructure and supporting applications. Troubleshoot system, network and application stack related problems. Optimize configurations for best performance and security. Coordinate with and support software developers to maintain environments as needed for optimal deployment of applications. Provide escalation support for issues raised by staff (developers, administrative, technical support) and customers. Proactive monitoring and on-call support for the IT Infrastructure as part of a 24/7 rotating support schedule.
Required Skills:
- Extensive/Expert knowledge of Linux system administration (specifically RHEL/CentOS).
- Expert knowledge of Virtualization infrastructure technologies and management such as KVM, RHEV, oVirt, VMware vSphere.
- Experience with Datacenter Operations and Dell Server hardware management.
- Advanced knowledge of server storage systems such as Red Hat Cluster suite, NFS, Gluster, drbd, RAID.
- Expert familiarity with standard Linux editing, text manipulation and search tools (grep/sed/awk/vim/cat/emacs).
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of SQL and SQL queries (specifically MySQL).
- Advanced knowledge of MySQL Database Replication and backups, MariaDB Galera Cluster administration.
- Apache httpd, Nginx, and MySQL/MariaDB Server configuration and performance tuning.
- PHP and MySQL debugging and log analysis.
- Experience supporting server architectures for business class PHP web applications.
- Knowledge with remote system management using SSH, Serial, VPN.
- Expert knowledge of Linux mail server administration, log analysis and protocols.
- Advanced knowledge of Windows System administration (desktop and Windows Server).
- Experience configuring services and monitoring resource utilization of running processes.
- Expert knowledge of troubleshooting web applications, HTTP methods, HTTP connections, web browsers.
- Ability to quickly assess the health and availability of critical system and network components.
- Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP routing, advanced network principles, OSI model, protocols, client/server architectures, and network issue troubleshooting.
- Network and host management, IP assignment, DNS configuration (BIND), and firewall (Juniper SRX, iptables, firewalld) configuration.
- Knowledge of best practices in regards to security/encryption and service configuration (SSL, SFTP, password management, policy management).
- Experience with Network Load balancing and failover concepts.
- Basic to advanced knowledge and experience with PHP web development (best practices, problem resolution, code analysis).
- Experience with Development Operations, Deployment Systems and Development Support.
- Experience with mod_php and PHP-fpm.
- Basic to advanced knowledge of Network Switching and Routing, NIC bonding, aggregate links and related protocols (Etherchannel, LACP).
- Configuration Management Automation using platforms such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet and CFEngine.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring solutions and supporting protocols (Nagios, Zabbix, SNMP).
- Scripting for System Automation and Administration using languages such as Shell, Perl, Python, PHP, Cron.
- Source code repository management experience using SVN and related tools.
- Experience with Enterprise Backup Solutions such as Bacula, Bareos or similar.
- Experience with Security Assessment tools, reviewing security reports, coordinating security fixes and patching.
- Familiarity with Network and Web Application Security best practices and principles including OWASP Top 10, NIST and CIS Benchmarks.
- Java Application Server management (Tomcat, JBoss).
- Jira Server Administration and Platform management.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills with a keen attention to detail.
- System and process log file analysis.
