Job Summary: TheEPA Certified Lead-Based Paint Inspector/Risk Assessor works independently on field projects, completes all field tasks, including mobilization, sampling materials in the field, documentation of field procedures, and any related tasks in support of field efforts. The Environmental Technician professionally prepares documents (figures, tables, text, email correspondence, etc.) to describe and/or present results.
Responsibilities: Manages projects related to Hazardous Building Materials, specifically Lead-Based Paint (LBP) inspections and clearances.
- Conducts fieldwork (XRF Inspections and/or Dust Wipe Clearance), sample collection, sample delivery, document sampling procedures.
- Receives and reviews analytical data, assemble tables, and figures.
- Prepares conclusions and recommendations in written and verbal form.
- Works with Project Manager to finalize project reporting.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering or applicable degree program.
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in Environmental Due Diligence projects, project management experience strongly preferred. Candidates who possess a current EPA/HUD Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor Certification are preferred. Experience with XRF instrumentation is preferred. Training will be provided to the ideal candidate.
Required Competencies:
- Experience working with NYC Housing Authority, Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)-related work,
- Excellent attention to detail,
- Excellent technical writing skills,
- Solid knowledge of general environmental health and safety standards,
- Completion of OSHA HAZWOPER training,
- Experience working in AutoCAD,
- Ability to work independently,
- Valid driver’s license.
