Seeking a versatile SQL Database Administrator for a Contract role with our client, a leading supplier of petroleum fueling and EV charging system equipment, installation and service across the United States. This role is based in a suburb of Dallas, TX and estimated duration of the contract is a minimum of six months. The client is open to a remote work schedule yet they do prefer the candidate is located in Texas. Or at the very least lives in Central Time zone.
Essential responsibilities include, design, manage, and maintain the company databases (medium to high complexity). Manage access and data security and data integrity. Collaborate with the System Administrators and DevOps to optimize DBMS configuration, schema, queries, and systems to drive quality performance. This key role serves as part of the infrastructure support team and will monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues related to the databases and database-driven applications. Successful candidates for this role will balance technical savvy, continuous learning, and a passion for customer satisfaction and results.
This position is open to candidates who are current residents of the United States only, which specifically includes US Citizens or permanent residents with a Green Card.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, manage, and maintain company databases supporting all enterprise applications
- Configure and tune SQL Server databases
- Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement
- Collaborate with other IT teams such as network, security, architecture, and application teams to design and implement database solutions that ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
- Table indexing, partitioning
- Other data maintenance as required to support the business
- Disaster recovery/data backups
- Database Replication and High Availability
- Overflow support for tier-1/tier-2 support
- Some travel (<10%) may be required to the client’s company offices in Dallas and Austin
- Availability for after-hours as needed
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ years primary experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- 3+ years working with a development team to enhance and support internal custom applications
- 3+ years’ experience with Azure
- Experience with other RDMS and columnar databases and No SQL databases a plus
- Experience using native and 3rd party monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Proficient in performance tuning for MS SQL Server, with expertise in ensuring data integrity, managing data retention, conducting data analysis, optimizing data input/output processes, and enhancing SQL code performance efficiency
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
- Experience with Replication, Clustering, Always On and other HA architectures
- Experience in configuring Azure Data Factory including monitoring and optimizing
- ETL workflows of pipelines
- Understanding of DevOps workflow deployment processes including releases and stages of CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with Azure Data Factory or ETL tools a plus
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications a plus
