JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) responsible for assisting in the delivery of patient care and services to diverse patient population and their families. This position performs patient care activities of daily living (ADL's) within unit specific defined limits and job scope.
The EMT position demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to handle and transport patients safely in an ambulance. The EMT will be picking up patients all throughout Harris County in response to calls on a first come first serve basis. Some of this calls maybe pre-scheduled or routine calls such as dialysis treatments or therapy, while others may come in during the day.
The EMT will be in constant communication with dispatch and is expected to appropriately carry out his duties and record data according to policy and procedure, reporting observations and patient problems.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Will transport patient is ambulance to and from hospitals, medical clinics, patient’s home, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, etc.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
o High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.)
o Completion of EMT-B, EMT-A or EMT-Paramedic program or licensed Paramedic, and/or currently participating in an EMT to Paramedic program with classification of an EMT-Advanced
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED
o Emergency Medical Technician Advanced or Paramedic certification (State of Texas)
o American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
o Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations
o Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security
o Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles
o Demonstrates and exercises judgment in interactions with physicians, interprofessional care team, patients and their families
o Displays strong time management skills
o Adapts to multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision including but not limited to organizing workflows and actively participating in problem solving
o Possesses competent computer knowledge. Operates multiple computer systems including electronic health records, e.g., Epic, and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, & Excel) to maintain patient information

Pay: $15.00 - $45.00 per hour
