KLEO empowers individuals and families to build a brighter future through various programs and initiatives, from youth development programs to health fairs, workforce development, and food distribution. Job Summary:
The KLEO Community Family Life Center seeks a passionate HR Generalist to join our team! This role is instrumental in ensuring a smooth onboarding process for new hires, managing benefits and leave administration, and overseeing recruitment and retention efforts. You will ensure we comply with employment laws and regulations, provide general HR support, and maintain HR information systems. As a key team member, you will be vital in empowering our staff and creating a positive work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure a smooth transition for new hires by handling I-9, W4, and W2 processing and facilitating new-employee training programs.
- Coordinate benefit enrollment, manage worker's compensation claims, and process leave requests (FMLA, vacation, etc.).
- Source and screen qualified candidates, conduct interviews, and play a key role in attracting, developing, and retaining top talent.
- Oversee performance review processes, create progress reports, and support employee development initiatives.
- Ensure all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations are adhered to. This includes coordinating drug testing and criminal background checks.
- Provide general HR support to staff on various topics, including policies, procedures, and employee relations.
- Organize and update personnel files, databases, and other HR information systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Labor Relations/Industrial Relations or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of HR Generalist experience
- Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office with advanced Word, PPT, and Excel proficiency.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- A commitment to social justice
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification
- Masters in HR Management, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, MBA or related master's degree.
