Director of Operations
The Director of Operations is primarily responsible for the safe execution of the daily operating plan and management of warehouse(s) across Alabama. This role is responsible for daily operations through exceptional leadership. The overall objective of the Director of Operations is to maximize operational excellence by working synergistically with multiple departments within the organization to maximize efficiencies and reduce service disruptions. These needs must be at the standards that reflect the quality image and safe practices of Adams Beverages. The Director of Operations will work directly Senior Management.
Primary Objectives

Serving as a role model for Company by establishing mutual respect with management and co-workers. The Director of Operations will lead by example to promote teamwork, cooperation, and enhanced morale.

Operating with candor, integrity, and professionalism in all Company interfaces

Through training and mentoring, develop direct reports into true “managers”.

Monitor close coding for all packages and work closely with Sales to effectively manage both close-to-code and out-of-code product.

Manage all aspects involving inventory control procedures including cycle counts. Develop strategies to tighten controls and ensure inventory adjustment reports are complete and accurate.

Ensure the timely completion of monthly Cooperage Reviews and formal, annual Cooperage Audits for all Suppliers.

Ensure adequate warehouse staffing at all times in order to meet receiving and loading efficiency goals as established in the annual budget.

Ensure all personnel receive up-to-date safety training and that all Company and OSHA Safety requirements are followed.

Conduct weekly / monthly meetings with the Warehouse Managers to review Company KOIs and to ensure adherence to performance standards.

Maintain Company formal procedures for check out and check in of delivery trucks.

Require that all Company procedures and policies are followed to prevent loss of product from pilferage, damage, or aging.

Review inventory counts with Warehouse Managers to ensure proper inventory counting procedures are followed according to Company guidelines. Monitor shrinkage.

Enforce policies around warehouse inventory rotation. Review the inventory aging report to ensure the oldest product is used first.

Maintain knowledge of the policies and procedures of Supplier equity agreements pertaining to building operations to ensure appropriate compliance.

Lead and conduct “new hire” roundtables/check ins on a 60-90 day frequency to increase employee engagement and minimize turnover

Fully immerse in complete utilization of WMS and Automation systems

Implement standards for limiting Breakage trends in warehouse employee functions.

Ensure that all warehouse personnel receive adequate training and are prepared to advance through the pre-determined career progression.

Document, discuss, and take necessary corrective action with warehouse personnel regarding inadequate performance, terminating when necessary.

Foster a “Best-in-Market” warehouse team spirit.

Provide Senior Management with daily Company operations updates (including personnel issues and daily financials), highlighting any problems, potential problems, and proposed solutions.

Perform annual evaluations of direct reports per company policy.

Other directives as provided by management.
Development of the Director of Operations Position

Product Knowledge – Must understand the entire portfolio

Participates in executive, management, and company staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.

Safety & DOT Training

All relevant safety and machinery training as necessary.

Special emphasis on FORKLIFT & Ergonomic training

Strong knowledge of Selling Solution Technology (Encompass Mobile, Encompass WMS, etc.)

Director of Operations Requirements

Minimum age of 21 years’ old

CDL / Class A License preferred

Flexibility in work schedule

Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time

Above average oral and written communications skills (Interacts well with Internal & External Customers)

Average computer knowledge, skills, and experience.

Proficient with Encompass Operation Tasks

Education and Experience
-
Must also have 5-10 years of experience in warehouse management functions or coordination.

Completion of some college coursework is expected. An Associate degree is preferred.
