Transcriber
I. Job Summary:
The Medical Transcriber will be responsible for accurately converting audio recordings from healthcare professionals into written text. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, excellent listening and typing skills, and the ability to work efficiently under deadlines. The Medical Transcriber will ensure that all medical transcriptions meet the highest standards of accuracy and confidentiality.

Transcribe audio recordings from doctors and other healthcare professionals into accurate, well-formatted medical documents.

Edit and review transcriptions for grammar, punctuation, and medical terminology errors.

Ensure that all transcriptions are completed within the specified timeframe.

Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any unclear or ambiguous dictations.

Organize and manage transcription files for easy access and retrieval.
IV. Required Education, Certifications, Skills & Abilities:

Certification in medical transcription.

Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Familiarity with different medical specialties.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA and SMF policies.
V. Additional Requirements:

Proven experience as a medical transcriber or similar role.

Excellent listening and comprehension skills.

Strong typing skills with high accuracy and speed.

In-depth knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation.

Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Proficiency with transcription software and tools.

High level of attention to detail.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
VI. Training Requirements:

The Transcriptionist will be responsible for attending all mandatory training and staying current with advancements in medical transcription technology and software.

Ability to work in a stationary position 50% of the time.

Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
