ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Florida Center for Emergency Medical Services (FL-CEMS) operates under the oversight of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of South Florida. The Center was established to implement innovative studies and explore critical areas of emergency medical services (EMS) known to have profound impacts on patient outcomes, EMS methodologies, and the public good. Its primary areas of focus include advancements in cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques, refinement of EMS educational curricula, enhancement of strategies leading to effective EMS research into disaster response, and the optimal function and design of EMS systems.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Executive Director will have primary responsibility for all aspects of FL-CEMS including day to day operations and administration. The position will work closely with key stakeholders at the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) and have experience working with public and private sector stakeholders. The successful candidate will have experience administering multiple overlapping complex grants.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative: Aids with the strategic planning for the Florida Center for Emergency Medical Services. This includes ensuring state health goals are met and liaising with internal and external stakeholders at the university, local, state, regional, and national stage.
Management: Oversight and management of the Florida Center for Emergency Medical Services (inclusive of recruitment, making hiring decisions, providing ongoing coaching and mentoring, and performance management).
Center Administration: Aids the Florida Center for Emergency Medical Services to ensure that all aspects of the Florida Center for Emergency Medical Services meets all deliverables that are outlined per the Florida Department of Health - USF agreement.
Center Representation: Coordinates and represents for the Florida Center for Emergency Medical Services at events held at local and state levels. This includes scheduling, sending invitations, and engaging attending current and potential stakeholders at the event.
Operational Management: Supports the operational development of the Florida Center for Emergency Medical Services. This includes monitoring service delivery, general business practices, and implementing personnel and financial policies to ensure long-term success within the dynamic healthcare landscape.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of seven years related exempt experience, including five years of managerial experience. Experience leading a team, project, program, or function.
FLSB1310 equivalency:
Four years of directly related experience can be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
PREFERRED:
Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MHA, or similar) and prior experience in EMS administration or EMS agencies is preferred. Highly qualified candidates will possess experience growing a grant funded organization
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
Robust experience in financial accounting and with software systems such as financial account software, Microsoft Office suite and advanced level experience in Microsoft Excel.
