The Facilities Operations Specialist will oversee the maintenance, improvement, and operational efficiency of a state-of-the-art facility critical to water resource evaluations and research. You will manage budgets, supervise contract personnel, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Compensation & Benefits:
Pay commensurate with experience. The salary range is $80,000 - $90,000/yr.

Facilities Manager Responsibilities Include:
- Provide expertise in facilities planning, maintenance, and repair.
- Determine maintenance needs and prepare annual budgets.
- Oversee contract personnel to ensure performance standards are met.
- Prepare annual and long-range forecasts for budgetary purposes.
- Plan and schedule subcontractors for maintenance, repair, and construction.
- Manage the execution of an annual operating budget.
- Develop long and short-range budget forecasts for building operation and preventive maintenance.
- Interpret policies, regulations, and provide facilities management guidance.
- Develop new instructions and materials to supplement existing guidance.
- Facilitate design, improvement, maintenance, and janitorial care for the facility.
- Oversee new construction, rehabilitation, and preventive maintenance.
- Work with engineers on project design and construction oversight.
- Develop and complete assessments of Deferred Maintenance and Capital Improvements.
- Use and administer the Facilities Maintenance Management System (FMMS).
- Train staff in FMMS system use.
- Maintain and update engineering drawings and accurate records of facility activities.
- Plan and design modifications for facility operations and maintenance.
- Develop annual and long-range repair and preventive maintenance plans.
- Advise senior staff on policies, procedures, and schedules for building and grounds activities.
- Implement monthly plans for the operations budget to ensure effective facility maintenance.
- May be on call for building emergencies during nights and weekends.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Facilities Manager Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Expert-level knowledge of building systems, space management, safety requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of planning and management principles for facility operations and construction projects.
- Knowledge of maintenance principles for specialized equipment and systems.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, heating, air-conditioning, and plumbing systems.
- Knowledge of acquisition rules, regulations, and contract preparation/oversight.
- Extensive knowledge of maintenance, repair, and construction duties.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines relevant to construction and maintenance projects.
- Ability to oversee the execution of an operations and maintenance program for a specialized facility.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and address emerging problems with innovative solutions.
- Strong planning, scheduling, and budgeting skills.
- Ability to interpret and provide guidance on policies and regulations.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills to work with various stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using facilities management systems like FMMS.
- Ability to develop new methods and criteria for unique facility needs.
- Pre-employment medical examination.
- Physical ability to conduct inspections and lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 pounds without assistance).
