Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Lead Machine Operator
- Assist in managing and directing all machining & finishing operations and personnel as needed.
- Assign daily workload to Machining & Finishing Dept. Personnel as needed.
- Able to operate all machines; CNC’s, Shot Blaster’s, Vibratory, Drill Press, Belt Sanders and Hot Dip Wash Tanks.
- Setup and troubleshoot machines.
- Check parts on CMM.
- Program edits as needed.
- Tools changing such as replacing and presetting tools.
- Able to inspect castings using various hand inspection tools, leak testers, and air gauge equipment. Maintain records of inspections.
- Perform floor rounds and verify production and quality of parts.
- Operate forklift and deliver/remove parts to maintain continuous production.
- Develop and document new procedures/work instructions as needed.
- Train new employees
- Instruct new employees on safe work habits
- Clean and maintain machines
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area
- Must support and follow the QMS requirements
- Carry out duties as the Machining & Finishing Dept. Supervisor specifies
- Observe all Boyd safety and OSHA guidelines and procedures
Qualifications of Lead Machine Operator

- Knowledge of Lead Machine Operator
- Previous factory experience is required. Basic knowledge of machining practices. Basic reasoning skills and language skills (ability to read, analyze and interpret general business paperwork in English). Ability to complete shop paperwork. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions/requests from managers, clients, customers and the general public in English. Ability to read and understand the company quality policy in English. Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization.
