Intensive In Home Counselor provides direct mental health care as QMHP-C for a small caseload of client families, providing services on an intensive basis and utilizing short-term solution focused strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Clearly identifying problem areas and needs, strategies, and service objectives
- Provides direct services to clients (Parenting skills, Mentoring services, Anger management, Substance abuse interventions, Social Skill building, behavioral intervention/management training)
- Be an integral part of implementing family relationship building,
- Create attainable goals for each family promoting realistic expectations.
- Provide crisis de-escalation services twenty-four hour a day availability
- Documents case activities for both clinical and billing purposes
- Prepares progress reports as required by CHCG.
- Participates in Child Specific Team, Family Assessment and Planning Team, and other interdisciplinary, diagnostic, or planning meetings
- Collaborates and coordinates with other case involved service providers and professionals, such as attorneys, school personnel, social workers, and probation counselors
- Links clients with external programs or services, such as health services, recreational activities, child care services, financial resources, employment resources, child care, AA/NA groups, transportation resources, and others
- Attends court hearings when families are court-involved and presents testimony and treatment recommendations as requested by attorneys, referral source, the court, or clients
- Works with LMHP to increase effectiveness of interventions
- Provide academic/vocational guidance, community awareness, responsibility and goals setting.
- Physically participate in weekly supervision with supervisor.
- Psycho-educational activities
Job Requirements
- Be available to potentially provide services during the day, evening, weekends and holidays.
- Provide and maintain an acceptable driving record and you must have a car.
- Be licensed by the Board of Counseling in Virginia as a QMHP-C.
- Have access to and the ability to use a computer, printer, internet services, and other necessary items to produce electronic documentation within the program.
- Maintain communication with Program Director through e-mail and cell phone as needed.
