GENERAL SUMMARY: The Endoscopy R.N. is accountable for the quality of nursing care rendered to patients. The R.N. assumes responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, directing, supervising, evaluating direct and indirect nursing care, and identifying outcomes for patients in the gastrointestinal setting. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Keeping patients informed throughout duration of procedure
- Answering patient questions or concerns
- Sedating patients before procedure
- Administering the necessary medication to patients
- Recovering patient after procedures
- Completing all required documentation in patient record and discharge documentation
- Preparing procedure room, instruments and supplies as needed
- Providing assistance to the physicians throughout the procedure
- Administering IV drips
Education & Experience
- Valid NYS licensure as a R.N.
- Experience in outpatient care/endoscopy preferred
Required Knowledge and Skill:
- BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
- Strong I.V. skills, clinical assessment skills, flexibility.
