In this role, you will:
- Maintain ongoing supervisory interaction, and conduct yearly evaluations, thereby ensuring the effectiveness of the nursing department.
- Confer with the Director of Nursing to exchange information, receive instruction, and offer updates on the status of the program; Confer with staff to discuss children’s medical status, as needed, and to ensure the ongoing communication of pertinent information.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs to identify and implement immediate and long-term plans of correction for systemic medical concerns/problems.
- Attend Monthly Medical Review Committee meetings, nursing staff meetings, and administrative and management meetings as needed, to communicate medical information and seek recommendations to improve medical care to children.
- Communicate with medical providers (pharmacies, psychologists, lab supply vendors, and physicians) by telephone and schedule meetings to ensure the delivery of quality and cost-effective healthcare services.
- Update family members/correspondents of each child by telephone, to serve as an insightful resource.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call system and provide coverage as needed.
We require:
- NYS Licensure as a Registered Nurse
- CPR/AED Certification
- Three (3) years’ experience in clinical nursing, working with the developmentally disabled population
- Experience working in a supervisory capacity
- The ability to communicate and effectively interact with people across
- cultures, ranges of disability, genders, ethnicity and races.
- The ability to recognize and manage personal behaviors to create an
- inclusive, equitable and welcoming environment.
- The ability to successfully deliver culturally responsive services to students and families.
