CDL-A Driver Job Description
Must own your own equipment:
CDL-A, drivers will report to the Director of Fleet Operations responsible for the compliance, policy and regulatory guidelines of transportation of freight and logistics management of all fleet vehicles. A Truck Driver, or Transporter, is responsible for transporting goods from one location to another. Their job duties include loading their vehicles, abiding by traffic laws and ensuring safe unloading and delivery at their destination. Driver workload, and performance demand* including compliance, standards of fleet, safety policies, procedures, and all other supporting documentation requirements for logistics of freight including BOL's, receipts for fuel, receipts for other miscellaneous tangibles expenditures acquired during freight pick up or drop off must be tracked weekly on return/reimbursement to bookkeeping. Specific job responsibilities involved.
Maintain compliance with supplier cargo before departure and re-verify upon delivery.
- Maintain State and Federal safety training as appropriate.
- Maintain training needs and opportunities for continued education and growth.
- Follow company policy for best practices interacting/communicating with suppliers.
- Driver responsible for weekly/quarterly/bi-annual/annual safety checks on cargo possession.
- New driver mandated road test preliminary prior to first load being dispatched.
Firearms on any fleet vehicles prohibited, with concealed (CCW) handgun holders in your state of residence included.
Education on supply chain and logistics management
Mandatory entrance drug testing for all semi, and OTR drivers upon hire and during random submissions as requested by FMCSA.
An Interstate (Class A) Commercial Driver's License with Hazmat endorsement (including cleared background check) or will obtain HAZMAT endorsement (with cleared background check) within 120 calendar days of date of hire.
- A minimum of 2 years on-the-road (OTR) experience working in a full-time Class A tractor/trailer driving position within 4 years.
No more than two (2) moving violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
- No serious traffic violations while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years. No preventable accidents* while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No preventable* DOT recordable accidents (collisions resulting in disabling damage and/or immediate medical treatment away from the scene) while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last ten (10) years.
No preventable accidents* resulting in a fatality or catastrophic injury in driving history.
