The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Salary: $66,473.71
Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly
General Description
Under supervision of the Program Director with consultation with the Center's Medical Director, performs advanced nursing work. Work involves planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating nursing activities and providing for them care and treatment of persons diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Work includes serving as a resource on nursing practices and education programs by performing consultative and administrative work. Serves as consultant and resource for Infection Control plan implementation. May assign and/or supervise the work of others. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. May involve acting as a Liaison between Community Based Medical facilities and Center staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Texas. Experience in nursing work. Must have reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to conduct business. Must have reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to conduct business. Must have a valid driver's license at all times, liability insurance and a good driving record.
Preferred: At least 6 months experience working with individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities in an ICF/ID and/or a waiver program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of nursing techniques and procedures; of health care laws and regulations; of medical diagnoses and procedures; of accepted medical treatment programs; of community health and nursing are principles, practices, and procedures; of program regulations and procedures; and of utilization review and control measures.

Skill in the care and treatment of patients and in the operation of computers and applicable computer software. Ability to provide patient care; prepare and maintain records; to explain public health laws; to organize, coordinate, and evaluate nursing activities and delivery of public health services; to interpret policies and procedures; to interpret health care regulations; to recognize patters of medical necessity treatment; to communicate effectively; and to assign and or supervisor the work of others. In the course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed care practices.
