We are a 20 year Houston law firm with 30 lawyers is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Clerk to join our finance team.
Job Summary: The Accounting Clerk will play a crucial role in our finance department, combining responsibilities of accounts receivable management with those of a controller's assistant. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and a strong foundation in accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and manage incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting, and recording accounts receivables' data.
- Prepare bills, invoices, and bank deposits.
- Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
- Generate financial statements and reports detailing accounts receivable status.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables to ensure timely collection.
- Assist the controller with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support in the preparation and analysis of financial statements and reports.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
- Help with audits, both internal and external, by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Perform other accounting duties and support the finance team as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proven experience as an Accounting Clerk, Accounts Receivable Clerk, or in a similar role.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and accounts receivable processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly QuickBooks and Excel.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.
