Job Description:
The Quiah Group is seeking dedicated Nurse Surveyors to join our team in conducting complaint investigations statewide. As a Nurse Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of healthcare facilities by investigating complaints and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct complaint investigations at healthcare facilities, typically taking 8 to 10 hours per investigation. Note that some investigations may require more than one week to complete.
- Handle multiple complaints during surveys.
- Coordinate on-site work as the initial point of contact at assigned facilities.
- Enter all survey findings into the Automated Survey Processing Environment (ASPEN) system within five (5) business days of survey completion.
- Notify MDH of any suspected immediate jeopardy situations in a facility and follow CMS State Operations Manual (SOM) procedures.
- Participate in meetings or conference calls to review survey findings and facility plans of correction.
- Provide necessary IT equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for surveyors.
- Manage travel arrangements, including costs associated with travel, hotels, food, rental cars, and airfare.
- Ensure availability to MDH Facility staff for consultation on technical support and survey results.
Qualifications:
- Valid RN license in the state of Maryland.
- Candidates must have a valid SMQT license
- Must have 2 years of experience in conducting healthcare facility surveys or similar investigations within the past 5 years.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations, including CMS 42 CFR Parts 405, 431, 447, 482, 483, 485, 488, and 489.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Proficiency in using IT equipment and software, particularly ASPEN.
Additional Requirements:
- The ability to work without overtime or holiday pay unless authorized.
- Participation in required training and adherence to MDH and OHCQ guidelines.
- Submission of a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) if performance issues arise, including background information, problem definition, root cause description, corrective actions, and implementation dates.

Pay: $85.00 - $95.00 per hour
