Full time 7AM - 3PM, 3PM - 11PM, 11PM-7AM
Weekends 7AM-3PM
Location: Waukegan, Illinois (Lake County)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care set by Illinois Board of Nursing, Illinois General Assembly Nurse Practice Act, and other governing agency regulations.
- Communicate with interdisciplinary team and physician, any changes in condition of residents that may require change in plan of care.
- Obtain appropriate orders for continued care. Complete physician orders & consents in a timely manner.
- Operate within the nursing scope of practice in line with principles of best practice and clinical governance.
- Complete monthly nursing summary, nursing goals for Care Plans, quarterly assessments for medications, and ongoing progress notes.
- Log the destruction of expired and discharged medication in the log book. Another nurse must witness the destruction of controlled substances and both nurses must sign the Destruction of Medication Logbook.
- Utilize the Bulletin Board in Point Click Care (PCC).
- Participate in orientation of new nursing staff employees.
- Demonstrate computer proficiency and efficiency with use of electronic records.
- STAT labs including specimen collection, ordering x-rays, EKG, etc.
- Complete Infection Control Report for any resident prescribed antibiotic.
- Complete POS and MAR for half of the residents on the floor on the 14th of each month.
- Assume the lead role when responding to medical and psychiatric emergencies.
- Follow protocol for hospitalization of a resident in an emergency.
- Follow protocol for infection control, needle safety, etc.
- Schedule appointments and transportation for resident appointments outside of the facility.
- Log refrigerator temperature in logbook.
- Complete documentation regarding Incident and Accidents Reports within a timely manner & update daily notes.
- Keep up to date with the resident’s yearly TB tests.
- Follow procedures for medication disposal.
- Maintain inventory supplies during each shift.
- Utilize Pyxis Machine.
- Supervise CNAs
- Review lab results and communicate with physicians.
- Always keep the nurse’s station clean. Clean the refrigerator after each shift.
- Check the narcotic box on every shift.
- 27. Remain at the nurses station during med pass (2 hours).
