FIELD / SHOP SERVICE TECHNICIAN
Job Description
A Cal-Lift, Inc. Service Technician should be able to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, testing and repairs to a wide variety of equipment makes and models. The primary objectives of the Service Technician are (1) the proficient repair & service of the customer's equipment, (2) to maintain good communication and working relationships with customers, peers and management, (3) to represent and sell the entire company, (4) to be profitable with direct labor billing, (5) work within all safety guidelines established by Cal-Lift, Inc. and OSHA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on vehicles and equipment
- Conduct inspections to identify any potential problems or safety concerns
- Complete service reports and maintain accurate records of all work performed
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects
- Gather and present accurate equipment information (make/model, VIN, engine serial number, mileage) to the Service Supervisor in order to assure proper coverage is determined.
- Work with Service Supervisor to draft accurate repair estimates (parts/labor)
- Perform engine & miscellaneous repairs and service on a wide variety of equipment
- Perform advanced trouble shooting and repairs on: electrical, hydraulic & pneumatic systems on all types of forklifts and yard spotters that Cal-Lift, Inc. sells and services
- Train other employees as needed
- Maintain a profitable billing level
- Follow all Service Department procedures
- Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work
- Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle (inside and outside)
- Maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory

- Must be willing to work overtime when necessary
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience as a Material Handling Service Technician or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Complete set of technician tools.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair techniques
- Proven experience as a Diesel Technician or similar role
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks
