Description
As a Forensic Expert - Digital Forensics Expert you are responsible for working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the accurate identification, preservation, and examination of electronic evidence. You will play a crucial role by uncovering, preserving, and interpreting electronic evidence. Your expertise is pivotal in assisting clients, providing meticulous digital investigations and expert testimony that stand up to scrutiny in court. In this role, you shine light on the truth by ensuring the integrity and admissibility of electronic evidence.
Essential Functions

Preserve and analyze data from various electronic data sources, including but not limited to mobile devices, computers, vehicle systems, cloud sources, and Internet of Things (IOT) devices.

Perform forensic data collections and forensic analysis in both on-site and remote capacity.

Utilize industry-accepted forensic software such as Axiom, VeraKey, Cellebrite, EnCase, Paladin, and FTK Imager to perform in-depth digital forensic analysis of various mobile and computer operating systems, file structures, and third-party application databases.

Conduct forensic examination of digital evidence through the application of recognized scientific practices for the identification, preservation, analysis, and interpretation of digital evidence for criminal and civil law or regulatory purposes.

Stay abreast of trends in digital forensics, cybersecurity, and law.

Regularly conduct research and testing to expand knowledge through publications and industry presentations.

Collaborate with other forensic examiners and work closely with clients to identify and recommend forensically-sound procedures in imaging, analysis, and presentation of digital evidence in court.

Ability to communicate technical terminology effectively in lay-person terms to client.

Prepare reports of scientific findings and conclusions that can be understood by lay persons and used in testimony during depositions and trials.

Provide expert witness testimony via depositions or in a court of law, as needed; and

Technical Requirements
-
College degree in digital forensics, information technology, cybersecurity, or related STEM field.

Prior industry experience in digital forensics or related field.

Experience with dynamic testing, data collection and data analysis.

Technical writing abilities.

Proficient computer skills working with various office equipment, computers, and various programs including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc., and the ability to effectively work on spreadsheets, word processing, networking, and e-mail programs

Enhance professional/technical knowledge and credibility through continuing education programs, review of technical publications, and preparation of technical papers.
Preferred Technical Requirements

Industry-recognized or tool-specific certification(s) (GCFE, GCFA, CCO, CCPA, CCME, EnCase, etc).

Working knowledge of physical file storage, file and system metadata, network and cloud architecture, relational databases (SQL), and other related technological subject matter.

Working knowledge of forensic software (e.g., Axiom, Cellebrite, FTK, Encase).
-
Working knowledge and/or familiarity of Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.

Working knowledge and/or familiarity of iOS and Android mobile operating systems.

Demonstrated knowledge of data collection, information governance and forensics standard methodologies.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.

Ability to work cross-functionally with various multi-functional teams.

Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Ability to manage and track multiple projects simultaneously.

Physical Requirements
-
This position can be physical in nature and requires some agility and physical strength specifically related to working within confined spaces of damaged and undamaged vehicles to remove infotainment modules and other vehicle systems.

Ability to travel or be in the field up to 75% of the time without restriction, when necessary.
Work Environment
The functions of this role are conducted remotely and on-site. Some travel both in and out of state, comprising up to 75% of the time. The position also requires in-person presence to ensure effective team collaboration. The employee will provide services at the Southlake, Texas location.

Hours of Work

Fulltime: Defined as 5 days a week for at least 40 hours per week. At times, the incumbent may be required to work over 40 hours per week in order to successfully complete the expected job duties and projects. When traveling or while in the field, the incumbent may be expected to work longer work hours.
