This position will maintain, repair all university custodial equipment:
Adjust, repair, and maintain equipment including but not limited to: buffing machines, including cords, switches, speed controls, motor brushes, commutators, and similar component; auto scrubbers, including solution recovery systems, batteries, and similar components; small and large vacuum cleaners, including beater bars, belts, impellers, cords, switches, and similar components; snow blowers, both electric and gasoline-engine powered.
Lubricate motors, compressors, small engines, bearings, and similar equipment; diagnose malfunctions in electrically and computerized powered equipment, using test lights, ohmmeters, voltmeters, and other test instruments; assess and test custodial equipment for safety, effectiveness, and efficiency.
Inspect, install, and repair: dispensers that include, but are not limited to tissue, towels, hand soap, and other products; inspect, install, and repair mop brackets, broom brackets, shelving, and similar devices.
Communicate to team lead and personnel on the proper use and care of custodial equipment. Report to team lead and/or supervisor status of equipment. Make recommendations for equipment replacement to the manager.
Maintain records of maintenance and repairs utilizing a work management system as well as an inventory of repair parts and supplies and prepares orders and requisition.
Ability to relate to and work with college students and college personnel.
The position will implements energy conservation methods, maintains security by locking and unlocking, report electrical, plumbing or mechanical failures as needed.Follow safety regulations in an assigned area which involves frequent lifting of 26 to 75 pounds and occasional lifting of over 75 pounds is required. Climbing ladders and stairs: overhead reaching; operating heavy cleaning equipment, (i.e. automatic scrub machine, buffer, extractor, etc.); frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, stooping; considerable walking and standing. The position must have the ability to understand and give verbal or written instruction; read chemical, biological, or radioactive warning signs; wear a respirator; remove snow with shovel or snow blower; retain training information required for custodial methods, equipment and products; work with student employees and be able to communicate and interact with the University community; serve as a liaison with the Department of Public Safety; maintain product inventory; make independent decisions to accomplish acceptable cleaning standards using appropriate methods, products and equipment; work inside or outside; sometimes exposed to harsh weather; work alone in vacated building, submit verbal or written reports as directed. - Completion of a high school education and three years satisfactory experience maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting custodial equipment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Frequent lifting of 26 to 75 pounds and occasional lifting of over 75 pounds is required.
- Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license(s).
Experience in maintaining wood floors, doing health care facility cleaning, and basic equipment repair; ability to be respirator certified for use of special finishes or seals.
