Description - CNC Machinist/Programmer with Team Leadership:
Specialty Components, Inc. designs and manufactures precision air bearings and metal optics used primarily in the semiconductor and motion control industries. We are a privately owned company in business since 1975. We have been at our present location in Wallingford (outside of New Haven, CT) since 1981. We enjoy an excellent reputation for quality product performance.
An increase in demand for our products requires an additional experienced CNC machinist for our day shift. This shift works five days per week with eight to ten hours each day. Our flexible start times begin from 6 to 9am, Monday through Friday.
Requirements:
This position requires advanced experience in programming and setting-up of lathes, mills, and/or turn/mills on close tolerance work. Direct experience with Mori-DMG brand machines (NVX, NLX, DMU) is strongly preferred. You will need to have a working knowledge of: CAM computer programming via Autodesk Inventor CAM, Fusion360 or Mastercam, speeds and feeds with Aluminum, Titanium and stainless steel alloys, G-codes, and be able to work from blueprints with geometric tolerancing and dimensioning.
In addition to these technical skills, this role also involves supervisory responsibilities. As a CNC Department Head and member of a small team of machinists, you will be expected to ensure that work meets quality standards, and that production goals will be met. You will also be responsible for identifying areas where team members may need additional training or support, and to provide or arrange for this training as needed.
This role is ideal for someone who not only has the technical expertise in CNC machining, but also has the leadership skills necessary to guide and manage a small team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must.
If you're sincere about your trade and want to grow professionally in a quiet, very clean, low-stress environment, this is the place to be. We have numerous late model year metal working machines including vertical millers with 3, 4 and full 5-axes as well as 5-axis mill-turn lathes with live tools and ultra-high precision diamond turning lathes. Our state-of-the-art facility maintains 68 degrees F air temperature year-round which allows us to produce parts to very high tolerances. A newly expanded in-house test and measurement department inspects parts to nanometric form accuracy and finish.
Our culture is one of continuous improvement, supported by first-class floor supervision and production management technology. We have comprehensive benefits including a company-matched retirement plan, medical, dental, life insurance, disability income insurance, vacation, and holidays.
