Position Description for Sr. WordPress Developer
Apollidon Learning, an online program management firm serving higher education institutions, is seeking a highly motivated, knowledgeable, and talented Sr. WordPress Developer who will thrive in a fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to the rapid growth of a small business.
You will be responsible for crafting and implementing custom WordPress themes and plugins while maintaining the highest code quality standards. Proficiency in React, Node.js, and TypeScript is a must as you'll be developing complex, responsive, and interactive websites.
The Sr. WordPress Developer position reports to the Director of Web Development Services.
Core Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the development of custom WordPress themes and plugins with a clean, intuitive design.
- Ensure high performance, security, and scalability of all WordPress installations.
- Implement front-end interfaces using React.js and manage application state with Redux (if applicable).
- Build and support back-end services with Node.js.
- Leverage TypeScript to ensure type safety and maintainability of the codebase.
- Collaborate with designers to match visual design intent.
- Optimize websites for maximum speed and scalability.
- Provide technical support and maintenance for existing applications.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers.
Requirements
- Minimum 4-6 years of hands-on experience as a WordPress Developer.
- Strong experience in custom WordPress theme and plugin development.
- Knowledge in React and proficiency using and developing Gutenberg blocks.
- Ability to create responsive designs and interactive elements.
- In-depth knowledge of modern HTML/CSS while using Tailwind CSS.
- A detail-oriented approach to development and problem-solving.
- Excellent understanding of website architecture and aesthetics.
Nice to Have
- A portfolio of custom solutions developed in WordPress.
- Familiarity with additional JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks and libraries.
- Experience with Node.js and TypeScript in a production environment.
- Understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that applications will adhere to them.
