This position covers four major functions of KML Laboratories: general office, record keeping, quality control, and office janitorial.
Requirement: Qualifying candidates are nonsmoking and are free of a smoking environment.
Primary Duties Include:
General Office:
- Follow established office policies and procedures in carrying out duties.
- Generate paperwork, i.w. forms worksheets, reports, etc., necessary to process samples and support microbiological testing.
- Answer telephone and correspond to email
- Respond to client inquiries
- Receive samples, supplies and equipment
- Check office supplies stock and request needed supplies
- Maintain office equipment
Record Keeping:
- Store records using established filing systems
- Ensure filing systems are maintained and up-to-date
- Follow procedures for record retention
- Follow procedures for protection and security of files and records
- Ensure effective transfer of files and records
- Transfer and dispose of records according to retention schedules and policies
Quality Control:
- Perform quality control review of laboratory documents including, but not limited to, microbial worksheets and certificates of analysis
- Enter micro test results into CofA; review microbial and other test worksheets for accuracy and completeness, initial and date; enter chemistry results into CofA
- Monitor status of samples sent to outside laboratories and follow up with laboratory to ensure timely receipt of test results
Janitorial and Grounds Upkeep:
- Maintain cleanliness of administrative areas in accordance with general office cleaning schedule

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Long hours of sitting and standing and using office equipment and computers
- Lifting of supplies and materials from time to time
- Constant interruptions and must meet with others on a regular basis
- Spend long hours in intense concentration
- Spend long hours on the computer entering financial information which requires attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
- There are a number of deadlines associated with this position, which may cause significant stres
