Reports to: Regional General Manager
Subordinates: Sales Executives, Superintendents, Project Managers, Estimators, Office Administrators
Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday (some days may require more than 8 hours, some weeks may require additional workdays). May be required to attend industry/company functions outside of normal business hours.
Position Summary
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for overseeing the operations, sales and administrative activities in the region with support from Camp’s Regional General Manager (RGM) corporate finance, sales and administrative personnel in Houston. In all respects, represent Camp in a professional manner maintaining a culture of fairness and quality of work. Meet and exceed our customers’ expectations. Foster a professional, productive and friendly atmosphere throughout our teams. Ultimately, the GM is responsible for his or her office’s P&L performance.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
The GM must communicate with other Camp employees, vendors, subcontractors and clients including property-level, mid-level and upper level executives and owners. The GM must have sufficient education, experience and communication skills (oral and written) to effectively discharge the assigned duties. Must be able to effectively manage a P&L and use computer software including Outlook, Excel, Word and Project from remote locations. Must have excellent listening skills, the ability to multi-task, meet multiple, conflicting deadlines and creatively solve problems. Must have completed OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 courses, or complete OSHA 10 within first 10 working days, and OSHA 30 within the first 40 working days of employment with Camp.
Responsibilities
The General Manager (GM) represents Camp in company meetings and events, on the jobsites and at industry functions. The GM’s primary activities are as follow:
o Manage and direct the operations team’s daily activities:
o Hire, direct and train superintendents.
o Direct and assist sales and operations in solving complex problems including customer interaction, interpretation of contract plans and building code issues.
o Assign projects and balance workload.
o Ensure cost-effective planning and scheduling activities are initiated and maintained to accomplish quality of work and timely completion of all projects.
o Review vendor/subcontractor qualifications and approve/discharge vendors and subcontractors.
o Directing local sales team and working with national sales team:
o Direct local sales team activities
o Enhance Camp’s revenue through direct contact with existing customer base.
o Develop new customers through multi-family industry activities.
o Maintain relationships with new and existing customers through personal contacts.
o Review contract documents and progress of jobs.
o Ensure timely billing and collection activities are followed.
o Investigate and resolve client inquiries and complaints.
o Manage the administrative functions:
o Review/approve/report weekly sales and operations reports
o Take primary responsibility for project profit and loss through effective cost control and reviews of estimating, purchasing, subcontracting and invoicing of all jobs.
o Enforce company policies and procedures.
o Communicate and interact with Camp’s other offices and teams.
