GENERAL STATEMENT (Summary of Duties and Responsibilities)
Responsibility for day-to-day activities related to recovering organs for transplant, including but not limited to potential donor referrals, donor evaluation, authorization process, and comprehensive donor management. Activities include, but are not limited to, being knowledgeable of individual hospital and OPTN policies related to the donation of all anatomical gifts; able to identify key personnel who are capable of improving and maintaining a hospital's level of participation in facilitating potential organ and tissue donors; and performing activities related to the initial and surgical recovery elements of the donation process. Advancing level responsibilities include facilitating donor management strategies on behalf of Southwest Transplant Alliance, advanced donor management strategies and invasive procedures. The position will also facilitate the general activities required throughout the donor recovery period under the direction of the medical director, clinical management team, and the lead recovery surgeon present in the operating room.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

2. Root cause analysis and corrective action plans related to department functions.
3. Conduct employee appraisal, performance improvement plans, and corrective action plans under the direction of the Manager of Clinical Services.
4. Approve employee expense reports, off call pay, and PTO requests in accordance with STA guidelines and policy.
5. Rotates Supervisor-on-call duties with other ORC Supervisors and clinical leadership.
6. Maintains skills at all levels of ORC. This is accomplished, in part, by performing onsite donor management during at least one shift monthly and as needed, according to donor activity and performing procedures (line placement, lymph node recovery, liver biopsy, bronchoscopy, etc.) on donors as needed.
7. Maintains regular office hours in addition to call responsibilities.
8. Performs and/ or will oversee and provide clear direction to others related to all expected duties of an ORC I, ORC II, ORC III, and ORC IV.
9. Actively monitors referral and case activity, providing input for optimal strategies.
10. Participates in donor case review.
11. Participates in team huddles.
12. Responsible for critical communications related to donor activity as needed.
13. Reviews information documented in case charts to verify accuracy and completeness of documentation.
14. Ensures proper documentation of training.
15. Ensures adequate staffing.
16. Oversees activities related to potential donor referrals and dispatches staff onsite for completion of consult, approach, various clinical activities, etc.
17. Assist HR and Education Departments in recruiting, interviewing and training clinical staff.
18. Assists in development of continuing education and training materials, programs and curriculum related to clinical functions.
19. Oversees coordination and execution of research initiatives and Quality Improvement initiatives (PDSA) approved by STA leadership under the direction of Clinical Managers and Director.
20. Completes STA Leadership Development Training.
21. Works with AOC, COO, and CEO for complex issues, especially those with potential for significant financial, regulatory, or legal impact to the organization.
