Job description
I. The Compounding/Batching area consists of the following equipment and areas:
- Forklifts
- Tri-Blender
- Batching and storage tanks with agitator and weighting systems.
- Pumps – air and electric.
- Hoses, fittings, filters, totes, and piping.
- Water metering, conditioning, and storage equipment.
- Compounding/Batching and raw material storage areas.
II. Job Requirements
- The Compounding/Batching operator will be responsible for the cleanliness of all equipment listed above and all areas assigned to them by their supervisor.
- Includes minor maintenance (i.e. – gaskets filter bags, etc.) and cleanliness of areas and equipment including the inside and outside tank & areas, drains, sump pit, outside water retention pit, totes, raw material storage area, chemical containers, water processing area and filters.
- Ensure that all containers are clean including material storage containers and totes, pallets with raw materials, raw material bags, dye area and containers,
- The Compounding/Batching operator responsibility and duty includes, but not limited to:
- All documentation for batching sheets, weight sheets, tank labeling, lab and inventory.
- Having input on resolving equipment and product issues in the batching areas...
- Must be able to read, write and have math skills.
- Read and follow all SOP’s, batching formulas, and safety requirements.
- Line product changeovers and startups including equipment flushes with assistance from production.
- Working with the lab to use up any “Rinsate” in product formulas and minimize all product waste.
- Operate forklifts ---both stand up and sit down.
- Handle drums of chemicals.
- Weight (lbs. /grams) out of chemicals and ingredients and document usage of. Ensure that the inventory tags are updated after each usage.
- Complete required inspection and inventory forms.
- Complete inventory cycle counts.
- Unloading of products and pallets from shipping containers and trucks.
- Keep the outside area behind the plant clean and orderly.
- Physical requirements
- The compounder will be expected to operate the equipment at factory rated speed and settings.
- Lift a minimum of 50 pounds repetitively for an extended period.
- Additional requirements
- A compounder’s main responsibility is to create and monitor batches until completed.
- The compounder will assist other operators in the production areas when needed.
- The compounder will help with training new employees in their areas of responsibility.
- Safety
- Safety requirements will always be followed.
- At no time will the compounder bypass procedures, leaving guards off to operate the equipment without proper safety devices in place.
III. Training and evaluation period for new employees.
- Training will be provided for 90 days. The Compounding/Batching supervisor, production supervisor and operations manager with input from other management will make the final decision on each employee’s job qualifications and performance.
