OVERVIEW OF MCF
MCF is an investment management company that serves clients through two divisions: Wealth Management and Institutional. The Wealth Management division provides investment management and holistic financial planning services to individuals, families, and privately-owned business owners. Our Institutional Division serves retirement plan sponsors as a “Chief Retirement Plan Officer”, providing fiduciary investment advice, plan governance, and participant education services, in addition to providing institutional investment services to foundations, endowments, and private family offices. MCF is a Securities and Exchange Commission registered investment advisor.
Job Summary
The Tax Manager role with MCF is on the Wealth Management team. The primary function of the Tax Manager is to deliver exceptional service experience to MCF’s clients and to play an integral part in the MCF Tax & Accounting Team. The Tax Manager will prepare individual, business, trust, and other tax returns, while also integrating holistic tax planning and strategy into clients’ financial planning picture. The Tax Manager will play an important role in Wealth Management client relationships alongside the entire service team.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Prepare and review federal, state, and local individual, business, fiduciary, and other tax returns as needed.
+ Work with Financial Advisors to develop tax planning strategies and solutions in-line with the individual needs of clients and participate in client meetings regarding such strategies.
+ Respond to and assist in correspondence regarding any notices received from taxing authorities.
+ Maintain up to date knowledge on tax laws and regulations and play an active role in sharing with the Firm.
+ Work closely with the Tax & Accounting Team on documenting and implementing best practices for processes and procedures in relation to income tax work.
+ Maintain client records across the Company’s systems.
+ Prepare necessary payroll filings for clients, as needed.
+ Prepare and file monthly sales tax forms for clients, as needed.
+ Ensure all processes are executed according to Company policies.
+ Perform a variety of other bookkeeping and accounting needs of the Company and clients.
+ Communicate any client issues to the appropriate team members and work on solutions on behalf of the clients.
+ Participate accordingly in client meetings.
+ Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and clients.
+ Actively participate in regular team meetings.
+ Willingness to manage and execute an expanded workload during peak seasons.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in accounting.
+ Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
+ Minimum of seven (7) years relevant tax return preparation and planning experience.
+ Proficient in CCH’s suite of products, ideally Axcess and Engagement, Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel), other applicable software applications, and CRM software
+ Experience with high-net-worth individuals and familiarity with tax matters, a plus.
+ An engaging and friendly personality.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Strong analytical and organizational skills.
+ Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize accordingly.
+ Self-motivated, with a desire to grow personally and professionally within the Company, with the ability to work collaboratively with the entire MCF team.
