Moxie Collective is seeking a passionate and experienced Sewing Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sewing, excellent teaching skills, and a genuine desire to share their knowledge with others. As a Sewing Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and informative sewing classes to students of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced sewists.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and Develop Curriculum: Create and implement comprehensive lesson plans that cater to various skill levels and cover a wide range of sewing techniques and projects.
- Teach Sewing Classes: Conduct sewing classes and workshops, providing hands-on instruction and guidance to students. Ensure that each class is engaging, educational, and enjoyable.
- Assess Student Progress: Evaluate students' skills and progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help them improve.
- Maintain Equipment: Ensure that all sewing machines and equipment are properly maintained and in good working order. Assist students with machine setup and troubleshooting.
- Create a Positive Learning Environment: Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where students feel comfortable and encouraged to ask questions and express their creativity.
- Stay Updated: Keep up with the latest trends and techniques in sewing and incorporate them into your teaching. Continuously seek opportunities for professional development.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience in sewing, with a strong portfolio of completed projects. Prior teaching or instructional experience is highly desirable.
- Skills: Proficiency in various sewing techniques, including machine and hand sewing, pattern making, alterations, and garment construction.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
- Interpersonal: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students of all ages and backgrounds.
- Organizational: Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple classes and projects simultaneously.
- Adaptability: Flexible and adaptable, able to adjust teaching methods to meet the needs of different learners.
