Job Title: Office Assistant (Entry Level)

Position Status: Non-Exempt, Monday to Friday, full-time, 40-hour work week, paid overtime.
Company Information: The Erie County Investment Co. was founded in 1899 in Ohio, and is headquartered in Golden, Colorado. Erie is a small, diverse investment company that manages multiple companies, primarily investing in commercial real estate, oil and gas, and car washes. We are looking for an Entry Level Office Clerk to handle a wide variety of office clerical tasks.
Summary: The primary responsibilities of the position are bookkeeping and production data entry; organizing and distributing correspondence and other material; record and file maintenance for an established filing system. May perform incidental clerical tasks. This is not a supervisory position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- General accounting data entry.
- Maintains, in accordance with an established system, a complete set of records to show financial transactions of the organization.
- Performs accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Examines and verifies data, distributes and posts same to proper accounts.
- Maintains cash books, daily journals and ledgers; prepares bank deposits, disbursement vouchers, and customers' statements.
- Traces and adjusts errors.
- Takes trial balance at prescribed periods and prepares preliminary financial statement detail for regular audit.
- Prepares preliminary matter and assists with major audits.
- Maintains files and records pertaining to the function.
- Maintains strong banking relationships.
- Access data via the Internet and company network.
- Reviews and completes lease administration accounting requirements including property tax and insurance records.
- Performs other clerical and general office duties as needed, such as filing, scanning, shredding, photocopying, and collating.
- Responsible for office supply management.
- Retrieves and sort incoming mail.
- Maintain office organization and daily light cleaning.
- Restocking vending machines.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 0 - 2 years of office/general bookkeeping related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is a plus.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to understand and carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, the Internet and Email systems.
