Sheakley is recruiting a Project EHS Specialist for our esteemed client, one of the nation's leading manufacturing contracting firms, for a Manufacturing facility in San Francisco, CA.
Compensation Package:
$55/HR if local
$50/HR and $150/Day perdiem if over 50 miles from San Francisco, CA Gas Reimbursement in addition to per diem.
$150/Month project completion bonus

Project Duration: 6 months temporary work, after Christmas full time option Full-Time Rate: $85 - $115k
Scope of Work: General EHS oversight of manufacturing facilities in the San Franciso Bay Area (Oakland, Walnut Creek or San Jose)
**Contractor Certification Requirements**:
Minimum Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Health & Safety, and/or Science related discipline (Environmental Science, Geology). 5-10 years health and safety program or nuclear density gauge operation experience preferred. Environmental investigation and remediation and/or geotechnical experience with familiarity of California OSHA and HAZWOPER regulations preferred.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

You will continue to develop our clients' maturing safety culture by interacting with all levels of staff and our business partners to promote safety as a core value.

Perform risk assessments and project planning to ensure H&S is incorporated at an early stage in the project cycle, including developing, reviewing, monitoring, and improving Site-Specific Health and Safety Plans (HASP), Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), and/or other task specific safety documents.

Work with project teams to ensure they have the health & safety tools, training, and knowledge necessary to perform their day-to-day job functions.

Conduct site audits and track corrective actions to closure.

Deliver H&S trainings (monthly, on-boarding, client specific).

Implement subcontractor health and safety prequalification program with continued monitoring of subcontractor compliance.

Ensure completion of client prequalification requests, and audit subcontractors' H&S programs.

Manage health and safety reporting and metrics of incidents, injuries, and near misses. Utilize a EHS management database to enter reports and assist in investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.

Manage the Bay Area Radiation Safety Program as the Radiation Safety Officer. Conduct program compliance audits, routine on-site operational observations, and perform trainings in accordance with American Portable Nuclear Gauge Association (APNGA) and State of California Department of Public Health.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Minimum Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Health & Safety, and/or Science related discipline (Environmental Science, Geology).

Minimum 5-10 years health and safety program or nuclear density gauge operation experience preferred.

Environmental investigation and remediation and/or geotechnical experience with familiarity of California OSHA and HAZWOPER regulations preferred.

Strong commitment to compliance with company and client Health & Safety protocols.

Completed training and certifications for OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER, OSHA 30-hour Construction or OSHA 510, APNGA Portable Nuclear Gauge Safety, and DOT HAZMAT training preferred, or the ability to obtain within the first year of employment.

Appropriate written and verbal communication skills. A writing sample may be requested.

Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Ability to travel to project sites and field assignments throughout the Bay Area. On-site auditing and observations could range from 50-75% of standard working hours including travel. Travel outside of the Bay Area may be needed at times, commitment could range from 25-50% to support West BU offices in Costa Mesa, Portland, San Diego, and Seattle or project sites in various locations.
