**Job Summary:**
We are looking for a reliable Shipping Supervisor to help coordinate the transportation of goods to our customers. The Shipping Supervisor will be responsible for communicating with freight companies, drivers, scheduling shipments, and ensuring timely delivery of freight. Hands-on supervision for all facets of shipping process is a must – even the ability to fill in with a lift truck occasionally. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
**Responsibilities:**
- Primarily responsible for shipping duties, but receiving, material handling and inventory reporting for materials, blending operations, disposal of trash and staging and load of recyclable items as a backup person will be part of the environment.
- Direct/ Manage 1 – 2 hourly person workforce.
- Conduct regular bar code inventory scans.
- Perform and verify proper hook up of bulk shipments, perform hook ups for silo box outs of resins and perform pneumatic conveying of materials from railcars or bulk trucks to a storage silo.
- Process daily outbound shipments including – preparing and Inspect labels, barcodes, and other features of completed orders, coordinate quality and shipping paperwork, communicate with drivers and provide them with necessary paperwork.
- Ensure that all shipments comply with relevant rules and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all shipments, including tracking information and delivery confirmations.
- Collaborate with other team members to optimize transportation routes and minimize costs.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing any inquiries or concerns from in house and external customers in a timely and professional manner.
- Continuously evaluate and improve transportation processes to enhance cost and efficiency.
**Qualifications:**
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or experience/training in logistics or transportation management is a plus.
- Proven experience working in a similar role, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in using transportation management software and other relevant computer programs.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and safety standards governing the transportation of freight.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively handle unexpected situations.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
