Job Title: Laser Operator

Job Summary: The Laser Operator operates laser cutting machines to fabricate precision parts per engineering specifications. The Laser Operator can set up jobs with minimal supervision. We have an immediate opening for second shift positions. The second shift runs from 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with some overtime available.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate laser cutting machines to produce parts according to blueprints and specifications.
- Inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laser equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with laser machines to minimize downtime.
- Run parts that meet engineering specifications without supervision.
- Read, understand, and interpret engineering and manufacturing drawings with working knowledge of GD&T.
- Follow instructions on set up sheets without supervision.
- Learn optimal cutting techniques.
- Verify conformance of finished work pieces to specifications using standard measuring tools.
- Ensure part count and data entry is accurate and correct consistently.
- Accurately complete and maintain all paperwork.
- Follow all safety guidelines established by the company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures.
- Solve routine problems with minimal supervision and demonstrate some advanced problem-solving abilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong mechanical ability.
- Ability to accomplish tasks and follow directions without deviation from procedures.
- Requires a high school diploma/GED or graduation from a certified technical school, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.
- Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
- Minimum 3 years of related experience desired.
- Must have a working command of the English language and be able to communicate orally and in writing (basic oral instructions, simple written memos, and instructions).
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings, follow routers, use simple math to perform basic calculations, and use basic handheld measuring tools.
Working Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment of this position is generally performed indoors in a well-lit and ventilated area. This position requires you to work around high-speed machinery and equipment and requires the use of safety glasses. Candidates must stand for much of the workday. This position may require overtime and shift changes. There is exposure to machine oil, metal filings, unpleasant odors, and noise. Job functions on and around mechanized equipment will present the need for alertness, accuracy, and safety awareness. Specific notices are posted in areas where safety equipment is required for accident prevention.

Candidates must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English. Work activities involve combinations of walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, bending, lifting, and carrying and standing for extended periods. Work requires the ability to see, hear, and smell to detect problems. The work requires the ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
