POSITION SUMMARY: BASIC FUNCTION
This position acts as one of the primary liaisons providing services to Global Data Centers Americas (GDCA) and its customers through independent problem solving, installation, maintenance, removal, modification, fault isolation, and reconstitution of fixed cable and wireless distribution systems, local area network (LAN) cabling and infrastructure, and wide area network (WAN) cabling and infrastructure, to include: copper core, coaxial, fiber optic, and antenna cabling systems.
In addition, this role monitors and analyzes the performance of fixed, underground, buried, aerial cable and antenna networks.
Also, drafts and produces documentation, change plans, and technical schematics and prepares basic architectural diagrams.
Recommends and implements dedicated LAN and WAN media distribution systems and interior wiring according to local code and specifications.
Coordinates with GDCA staff across departments for expansion and capacity management of existing facilities.
Acts as team lead within this skill practice area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures the cleanliness of IT Infrastructure spaces.
- May supervise or perform the installation, maintenance, reconstitution, removal, and modification of cabling and supporting infrastructure.
- Uses drawings, task lists, instructions, and technical data to work.
- Terminates copper core and fiber optic cables on main distribution frames and interface equipment.
- Uses test equipment in and around IT Equipment, confined spaces, and enclosures.
- Updates and maintains internal systems, communications and computer systems installation records, maintenance and inspection records and provides written as-built documentation as required.
- Installs distribution equipment.
- Operates and performs maintenance on tools, test equipment, auxiliary equipment.
- Coordinates, recommends, and provides for supplies and spares.
- Performs operational checks and preventive maintenance inspections.
- Coordinates the access for - and use of - tools, test equipment, auxiliary equipment, and vehicles such as backhoes, trenchers, cable trailers, cable reel trucks, and construction vehicles through in-house and contracted parties.
- Develops and improves work methods and procedures related to installation and maintenance of all cable and antenna systems.
- Develops and improves documentation, policies, procedures, and methods.
- Trains and mentors’ trainees, L1, L2, and other L3 Infrastructure Engineers.
- Recommends specifications for products and services utilized within the job.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- BICSI Technician designation
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 5 years in the capacity as an Infrastructure Engineer or related field (structured cabling).
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Primarily walking, sitting, standing, bending, and climbing of ladders.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Ability to distinguish colors on wiring and cables to ensure safety and technical standards are followed.
- Able to climb ladders and work on raised platforms.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Able to hear and speak into a telephone.
- Close visual work on a computer terminal.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required to operate computer keyboard, mouse, other technical instruments, and for performing cable terminations and testing.

- * CONDITIONS*
- Standard office; Data Center environment with varying temperatures and loud noises; extensive daily usage of workstation or computer.
- Must be available for 24x7 support of customers and NTT.
- Must be reachable via telephone, text, and email on a 24x7 basis.
- SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- 25%-50% travel or as required for training, conferences, vendor and manufacturer visitations, quality control, design and build collaboration, and work-assistance at other NTT locations.
- On-Site work as required; limited telecommuting permitted.
- Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license.
- This position requires work to be done onsite at a data center facility and may require use of a personal mobile device. A monthly stipend will be provided to cover expenses incurred for using a personal device, if applicable. NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is$74,400-93,000. All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
